about the role
we are seeking a dynamic and visionary head of e-commerce to lead our direct-to-consumer (d2c) digital business. the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in driving online revenue growth, scaling d2c platforms, and building seamless customer journeys in the fashion or lifestyle industry.
key responsibilities
1. e-commerce strategy & growth
- own the p&l for the e-commerce channel ( marketplaces).
- define and drive short-term and long-term e-commerce strategies aligned with business goals.
- identify new growth opportunities and digital trends across customer acquisition, retention, and conversion.
2. website & digital platform management
- oversee d2c website performance, ui/ux, speed, and checkout experience.
- collaborate with tech/product teams to enhance the site based on customer data, heatmaps, and a/b testing.
- optimize conversion rate and average order value (aov).
3. performance marketing & customer acquisition
- drive roas and cac targets through digital performance channels (meta, google, programmatic, affiliate, email/sms).
- work closely with internal or agency teams on media buying, funnel optimization, retargeting, and analytics.
4. merchandising & inventory
- collaborate with buying and merchandising teams to curate the digital product catalog.
- manage inventory visibility and forecast demand across skus, especially for high-turnover and seasonal products.
5. marketplace management
- oversee partnerships and sales performance across key marketplaces (amazon, myntra, flipkart, ajio, nykaa, etc.).
- ensure pricing, promotions, and brand representation are consistent across channels.
6. customer experience & retention
- improve customer journey across digital touchpoints including mobile/web/email.
- implement crm strategies to drive repeat purchases and loyalty (e.g., klaviyo, moengage, webengage).
- analyze nps, returns, reviews, and drive continuous improvement.
7. team & stakeholder management
- lead and mentor a cross-functional team spanning digital marketing, tech, analytics, operations, and customer support.
- liaise with founders, marketing, supply chain, and finance to ensure business alignment.
key requirements
- experience: 10-20 years of total experience with at least 5+ years leading a d2c business or e-commerce p&l.
- industry exposure: must have worked in fashion/apparel/lifestyle/retail sectors with a focus on premium or mass-market consumer products.
- strong grasp of performance marketing, digital analytics, crm, and ui/ux best practices.
- hands-on experience with platforms like shopify/magento, google analytics, meta ads, google ads, klaviyo, and key marketplaces.
- entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
preferred qualifications
- mba/pgdm in marketing, digital business, or similar.
- certifications in e-commerce or digital marketing platforms (optional but preferred).
