mainframe infrastructure or application / z/os administrator (trainer & modernization r&d support)

location: chennai - work from office

about the role:

we are looking for a skilled mainframe infrastructure or z/os admin professional who is passionate about teaching and eager to work closely with our modernization architects on r&d and solution design. this role is ideal for those who have previous training experience and are ready to upskill on the latest technologies in mainframe modernization, ibm cloud, data & ai.

key responsibilities:

• actively support modernization architects in research, solutioning, and implementation planning.
• train internal resources and assist in curriculum development.
• explore and experiment with modern tools like zowe, ibm dbb, ucd for z, watsonx, etc.
• contribute to building modernization accelerators and best practices.
• stay updated and adopt an upskilling mindset with latest modernization trends and ibm tech.

required skills:

• strong expertise in mainframe infrastructure or z/os administration.
• prior experience as a trainer or mentor.
• eagerness to learn and work on modern tools and cloud-based solutions.
• good communication and collaboration skills.

• mainframe systems administration: expertise in managing mainframe infrastructure and applications, particularly z/os
• modernization skills: experience with replatforming, api enablement, devops ci/cd pipelines, and ai-infused automation
• training and support: capability to deliver enterprise-grade training programs and provide support for modernization r&d projects
• technical skills: familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, data management, ai/ml, watsonx, and agentic ai
• problem-solving and analytical skills: strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system monitoring abilities
• communication skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and training delivery
• relevant experience: minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe systems administration and modernization projects
• educational background: bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
