role overview
we are seeking a qa automation engineer who can design, implement, and maintain python-based automated test suites using pytest . you will work alongside product managers, backend (django) and frontend (react) developers to verify that each release meets quality targets across functionality, performance, and security. if you enjoy writing clean test code, discovering edge-case defects, and improving ci pipelines, you will thrive in our fast-moving environment.
key responsibilities
- build robust, modular automation frameworks in pytest (fixtures, parametrization, markers).
- integrate browser automation with playwright or selenium for ui coverage, and use requests/httpx for api testing.
- create and refactor regression, smoke, and sanity suites; keep them efficient and reliable.
- embed clear assertions and data-driven scenarios that mirror real-world usage.
- wire tests into github actions (or jenkins/gitlab ci), auto-publishing rich reports via allure or reportportal .
- configure flaky-test detection and failure notifications to slack/email.
- collaborate with developers during story grooming to write acceptance criteria and identify test gaps early.
- contribute utilities or fixtures to help developers extend unit tests.
- spin up disposable environments in docker/kubernetes; seed deterministic test data and mock third-party services.
- drive load testing with locust or jmeter , analyze bottlenecks, and report actionable findings.
- integrate static/dynamic security scans into pipelines and validate remediation fixes.
- produce concise test plans, architecture diagrams, and a living qa wiki.
required skills & qualifications
- min 2 to 3 years of hands-on automation experience with python .
- deep knowledge of pytest : fixtures, parametrized tests, custom markers, and plug-in ecosystem.
- proven experience automating web uis with playwright or selenium.
- solid rest api testing using requests/httpx (validation of headers, payloads, and status codes).
- familiarity with ci/cd (github actions, jenkins, gitlab, or azure devops).
- comfort with linux command-line, docker containers, and basic networking.
- working sql knowledge (postgresql preferred) for data validation.
- strong git workflow skills and exposure to agile/scrum ceremonies.
- excellent written and verbal communication; able to craft clear bug reports and test narratives.
