about us
at accel1, we are revolutionizing climate resilience through intelligent technologies. our flagship platform, hydrotrace, integrates satellite analytics, ai-powered water intelligence, and precision climate interventions like cloud seeding. our mission is clear: restore environmental balance, ensure water security, and empower communities.
role overview
we seek a senior environmental scientist with expertise in weather forecasting, cloud microphysics, and precision-based cloud seeding. the successful candidate will lead real-time weather operations, analyze atmospheric conditions for intervention, and deploy next-generation cloud seeding technologies (including drone-based, aircraft-based, and ground generator-based techniques).
you will be a critical part of india's first integrated precision cloud seeding program, aimed at transforming regional drought response and agricultural resilience.
key responsibilities
- real-time atmospheric monitoring: analyze real-time meteorological data (radar, satellite, lidar) to identify optimal cloud seeding opportunities.
- precision targeting: use ai-enhanced modeling systems to select cloud types, altitude bands, and ideal seeding timings.
- mission planning and execution: coordinate and oversee cloud seeding operations via aircraft, drones, and ground-based units.
- seeding agent management: determine appropriate seeding materials (e.g., silver iodide, calcium chloride, dry ice) based on cloud typology.
- impact validation: design and implement scientific evaluation frameworks to measure rainfall enhancement post-mission.
- ai & automation integration: collaborate with data scientists to enhance real-time forecasting, predictive targeting, and mission optimization tools.
- regulatory compliance: ensure all environmental, aviation, and government approvals are secured for safe cloud seeding operations.
- disaster response support: assist in rapid-response drought relief and emergency water generation strategies.
a day in the life of a senior environmental scientist at accel1 (precision cloud seeding team)
this is not a conventional 9-to-4 job.
we are working on a mission-critical opportunity - solving one of the planet's most urgent problems: water scarcity. our team operates in dynamic field environments, often responding to evolving weather patterns in real-time. flexibility, passion, and commitment are essential.
05:30 am - pre-mission briefing
- review overnight meteorological data feeds (satellite, radar, lidar) and ai-driven model predictions.
- join the morning strategy call with meteorologists, drone operators, and aircraft pilots to finalize the day's target zones for cloud seeding.
- update mission checklists and weather maps based on real-time conditions.
07:00 am - field deployment
- arrive at the designated field base (could be an airstrip, operations center, or mobile command unit).
- calibrate cloud analysis instruments and verify seeding material inventory (e.g., silver iodide flares, hygroscopic particles).
- conduct a safety briefing with the pilot/drone operator teams, and coordinate with local atc (air traffic control) if flying.
08:30 am - cloud surveillance and target confirmation
- use radar and satellite imagery to confirm cloud density, altitude, and moisture content over pre-selected target areas.
- finalize "go/no-go" decisions based on evolving atmospheric conditions.
- adjust seeding strategies dynamically depending on new convective activity or wind shifts.
09:00 am to 12:00 pm - cloud seeding operations
- execute live missions:
- direct aircraft/drone pilots in precise cloud targeting maneuvers.
- release seeding agents at optimal heights and cloud structures.
- monitor humidity, updrafts, and thermal conditions in real time to optimize results.
12:30 pm - impact assessment kickoff
- start monitoring rainfall radar and satellite overlays to track precipitation development post-seeding.
- collect hydrological and meteorological data for comparative analysis.
02:00 pm - field data analysis
- input mission parameters, rainfall measurements, and atmospheric readings into the hydrotrace system.
- run ai algorithms to assess rain enhancement rates and environmental impacts.
03:30 pm - reporting and debriefing
- prepare technical reports summarizing mission outcomes, success rates, deviations, and learning points.
- conduct a team debrief, discuss what worked, and suggest optimization strategies for future missions.
05:00 pm - end of day reflection
- collaborate with the innovation team to brainstorm improvements for cloud targeting algorithms, seeding material optimization, and mission automation.
every day at accel1 is an opportunity to shift the climate narrative - one cloud, one community, and one innovation at a time.
