summary of position: the aviation program director provides day-to-day leadership and strategic oversight of indiana wesleyan university's online and hybrid aviation degree programs, aviation training partnerships, faa-certified ground school program, and high-school partnerships. reporting directly to the dean of the devoe school of business, technology, and leadership, this individual ensures the program meets academic excellence, regulatory compliance, and the career development needs of aviation students. this position is ideal for a motivated aviation professional completing a master's degree who is eager to lead and expand a university-based aviation program grounded in christian values.


duties and responsibilities

  • oversight of the day-to-day aviation operations including but not limited to coordinating dual credit programs with high schools and facilitating with the various departments within the university that support aviation
  • working with the aviation flight partners to maintain faa compliance
  • coordinate the jr. rotc summer program june and july
  • work with dean of devoe to explore opportunities for program growth
  • recruit and oversee aviation faculty that are aligned with the mission of iwu and can aptly support the overarching mission of iwu

qualifications: according to indiana wesleyan university employment policy all employees must possess a strong christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the iwu community lifestyle statement.

education

  • bachelor's degree in aviation, aerospace science, or related field
  • master's degree in progress (or completed) in a related discipline
  • in-depth understanding of faa part 141 ground school requirements
  • experience in aviation instruction or curriculum development
  • strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • commitment to iwu's christ-centered mission and values

experience

  • faa advanced ground instructor (agi) or instrument ground instructor (igi) certification
  • cfi/cfii credentials (active or expired)
  • experience with collegiate aviation program administration
  • familiarity with aviation simulation and learning technologies
