Controller
as controller you oversee company accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement production. work directly with cfo and external cpa, financial institutions, insurance agencies. manage work in process reports, year-end taxes, quarterly reports and oversee project profit/loss tracking. manage gl issues with ar/ap and all aspects of invoicing and collections. this position is eligible for remote/hybrid work.
main role & responsibilities:
• supports the innovation of the design and building process to identify financial growth opportunities
• work with accounting team on day-to-day operations, audit transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, job costings and payroll
• maintain and perform skilled reviews of work in progress reporting and revenue recognition
• extract data from the accounting software to provide detailed and relevant reports
• prepare and process financial statements with external partners for regulatory reporting, such as the cpa, banks, and insurance agencies.
• oversee and executive month-end close activities in collaboration with accounting manager
• prepare monthly financial statements, including cash flow, ratios and trend analysis
• manage tax planning, property sales and asset management
• oversee monthly general ledger entries and account reviews and reconciliations
• assure compliance and establish internal controls and policies
• collaborate with the cfo, ceo and coo on company's financial strategy and planning
• collaborate with the design and build teams on best practices related to accounting functions
• 4 year degree in accounting from an accredited institution
• 5+ years of experience in finance management, ideally in construction industry
• experience leading a staff of accounting professionals
• in-depth knowledge of accounting software (preferably viewpoint/vista/trimble)
• familiar with construction processes in relation to project set-up, change orders, billing and closeout
• service oriented; driven to provide excellent service throughout the organization
• skilled ability to manage tasks and conflicting priorities and deadlines
• ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly reporting deadlines
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
