database analyst for an opportunity in columbia, sc.
work arrangement:- hybrid: fully onsite until trained; then onsite 3 days/week and as needed
- w2 position; 6 months
- candidates who are foreign nationals must have resided in the us for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years prior to assignment to the client's applicable government contract.
position summary:- the database analyst will support day-to-day operations: work action requests from customers when assigned, install patches and upgrades, work assigned days as "hot seat" routing new customer requests to the team, participate in regular meetings and workgroups with the dbas and data analytics staff. recent hands-on experience is required.
- participate in the modernization effort including implementing an ibm p10 data warehouse, moving from aix servers to linux, implementing python to replace sas, implementing new security measures and sso, and implementing devops/devsecops.
- we're looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated professional who can manage tasks independently, contribute to team projects, and support knowledge sharing across the team. the ideal candidate brings a collaborative mindset, a passion for improving systems and processes, and a strong foundation in database architecture. creativity and a forward-thinking approach to data solutions are highly valued.
required technologies:- db2 database management
- strong knowledge of rhel operating systems
- bash and ksh
nice to have:- iias, db2 udb architecture
- implementing security standards (i.e., stig)
- user id management strategies
about the team:- the team consists of 14 members and maintains a strong collaborative dynamic. it includes a mix of local and remote staff.
- daily video meetings are required to foster a sense of in-person connection.
- the team handles systems and database administration within a larger medicare statistical analysis department.
- their data warehouse now supports functions beyond statistical analysis.
- they are currently undergoing a two-year modernization initiative to replace all existing systems.
minimum required work experience:- 5 years of it experience including varied database administration experience.
required education/equivalencies: - bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or other job-related degree;
- or, associates degree in cs, it, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
- or, 4 years job-related work experience (total 9 years without a degree)
