education
- required: high school diploma
- preferred: associates degree in health information management or bachelors degree in a related field.
experience
- preferred: experience with coding software in acute care setting
skills

- remain current with changes in coding guidelines and charging procedures
- maintain competency with all software vendors related to clinical documentation, coding, and billing, providing input for necessary changes to software to enhance efficiency
- providing feedback on documentation errors to professional and non-professional clinicians
- responsible for performing ongoing quality improvement of documentation
licensure/certification/registration
- required: rhia, rhit, cpc, cpc-a ,ccs, or cca credentials
