Job Overview

the facility maintenance technician will support the facilities manager in assuring the effective functioning of the building to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and their activities. the facilities maintenance technician will ensure that surya policies, procedures and programs provide for well-managed and well-maintained equipment, machinery, and buildings. the ideal candidate is eager to roll up his or her sleeves to get the job done. he or she is willing to work hands-on, is a team player and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. this is a full-time role and the person will sometimes operate outside of regular business hours to respond to alarms or system failures as needed or attend to other responsibilities.

essential duties & responsibilities:

• respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures
• provide prompt response to requests and issues from facility occupants
• coordinate and meet with vendors as necessary for regular building and system maintenance and repair (electrical ups system, fire alarm and sprinkler, hvac, backup generator system, security system, housekeeping, etc.)
• promote a safe work environment to include training for new and existing employees in regards to the building and its systems, safety guidelines in compliance with osha and the department of health.
• continually monitor and execute programs to ensure the environmental health and safety and proper functioning of the building, systems, equipment, and machinery.
• maintain and repair facilities or equipment
• act as a back-up to the facilities manager as needed

qualifications:

• minimum of 2 years' experience in building maintenance with a similarly sized building (1million sq. ft.)
• education: ged or high school diploma, strong preference for a technical or bachelor's degree with a related field of study
• knowledge of osha compliance and department of health requirements
• bilingual - strong command on spanish and english required
• excellent verbal and written skills that allow you to effectively communicate across the organization
• strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• committed work ethic - demonstrates a 'roll up sleeves' attitude to get the task on hand completed
