Title:

Financial Aid Administrator

Description:

the financial aid administrator will oversee the daily operations of the financial aid office at aveda institute new mexico. they will support the institute's mission to deliver a high-quality, professional education and achieve the goals of fostering learning, exceptional customer service, and environmental stewardship by ensuring financial resources are available to all current and prospective students.

  • provide personalized guidance on financial aid eligibility, fafsa application procedures, available aid programs and tailor information to meet each student's unique need and circumstances.
  • counsel students and parents through the financial aid application procedure.
  • ensure all software systems are current with federal financial aid information.
  • check and confirm documentation for federal financial aid packages.
  • generate financial aid award letters for students.
  • draft and distribute disbursement letters to students, maintaining a copy for institutional records.
  • compile financial aid packages for prospective students.
  • assess and confirm student eligibility for federal funds.
  • pull and analyze satisfactory academic progress (sap) reports.
  • make necessary updates to the national student loan data system (nslds).
  • execute strategies to manage loan defaults.
  • analyze the institutional student information report (isir) to determine awards and student eligibility.
  • ensure continued compliance with federal requirements including submit recertification documents for ainm.
  • assist accounting department, school director and admissions with audit requirements.
  • other duties as assigned.




  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • experience in beauty/cosmetology or trade school educational industry preferred
  • fundamental knowledge of and respect for the education process
  • five years' experience in financial aid and/or management preferred
  • understanding of principles of financial management
  • advanced computer skills - all microsoft office applications; appropriate programs for federal and state financial aid services
  • satisfactory results background check and credential verification
  • strong leadership/management skills
  • detail-oriented, organized and self-motivated
  • communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • ability to work with others in a cooperative manner
  • ability to multi-task under demanding and fast-paced circumstances
  • proficient in speaking - classroom and/or public sector
  • prefer bi-lingual in spanish/english
