position summary the plant electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment supporting manufacturing operations for plastic extrusion and paper/plastic tubing production. the role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations across all shifts.
key responsibilities - perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, controls, and equipment including extruders, winders, and associated machinery.
- troubleshoot and repair motors, drives, plcs, sensors, relays, and control panels.
- read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
- assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and plant electrical projects.
- ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes and plant safety standards.
- collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- document work performed, update electrical drawings, and maintain accurate records.
- support continuous improvement, energy efficiency, and reliability initiatives.
requirements - high school diploma or ged; completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship or technical school preferred.
- state electrician license or certification (where applicable).
- 3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing electrical work, preferably in plastics or paper converting environments.
- strong knowledge of motors, drives, plcs (allen-bradley a plus), and industrial electrical systems.
- ability to work from heights, in confined spaces, and respond to emergencies as needed.
- excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
