SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
mills james, a fast-growing creative media production company, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated senior accountant to join our finance team. this role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality financial work. the senior accountant will support monthly close processes, budget preparation, payroll processing, financial reporting, audits, and reconciliations-serving as a key player in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.
what you'll do
• lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end general ledger closings with accuracy and timeliness
• maintain reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
• prepare and analyze journal entries, financial statements, and cost reports
• assist with department-level budget development and financial forecasting
• review biweekly payroll using paychex, ensuring compliance and timely execution
• support accounts payable operations and vendor invoice management
• maintain fixed asset schedules and perform depreciation entries
• coordinate documentation for external audits and ensure gaap compliance
• ensure accuracy of reporting across our erp system
• act as a trusted resource for accounting and payroll-related inquiries across the company
what you'll bring
• bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• at least 4 years of experience in corporate accounting, including payroll administration
• hands-on experience with paychex or similar payroll processing systems
• solid understanding of gaap and financial best practices
• advanced skills in microsoft excel and familiarity with accounting software and erp systems
• excellent attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
• ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-based environment
• strong written and verbal communication skills

• cpa or cma certification
• experience in media production accounting, creative services finance, or event production companies
• familiarity with netsuite, quickbooks, or similar platforms
• prior work in video production, av, or broadcast industry accounting roles
