position description: position summary - the senior project manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of large-scale civil construction projects, from pre-construction through closeout. this role requires an experienced professional who can manage project teams, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships with minimal oversight. a successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and embraces continuous improvement in both project delivery and team development.
key responsibilities leadership & oversight
- serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and subcontractors
- lead internal kickoff, preconstruction, progress, and closeout meetings
- mentor and support project engineers, assistant pms, and junior staff
- promote and enforce siema's core values and operational standards
project execution
- manage multiple civil/heavy highway construction projects valued $3m-$20m+
- partner with superintendents to ensure quality, schedule adherence, and productivity
- coordinate with estimating during bid handoff and develop project startup plans
- ensure strict adherence to osha standards and siema's health & safety plan
scheduling & planning
- develop and maintain p6 baseline and 3-week lookahead schedules
- conduct weekly schedule updates and monthly reporting with owners
- anticipate material, equipment, and labor needs to prevent project delays
financial management
- create and maintain budgets, forecasts, and monthly cost-to-complete reports
- review and approve subcontractor pay apps, material pos, and change orders
- manage billing, retainage tracking, and margin protection throughout the project
contracts & procurement
- review prime contracts and ensure compliance with project requirements
- negotiate and execute subcontracts and material purchase orders
- lead the submittal and rfi process from submission to closeout
documentation & reporting
- ensure accurate and timely project documentation in viewpoint vista and heavyjob
- approve timecards, equipment usage logs, and daily field documentation
- track project issues, resolve disputes, and drive closeout with owner acceptance
position requirements: required qualifications - minimum 7 years of experience in civil or heavy highway construction
- proven success managing dot, drainage, earthwork, paving, or utility projects
- strong working knowledge of p6, viewpoint vista, and hcss heavyjob
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to lead diverse field and office teams
- valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites
preferred qualifications & certifications - bs in construction management, civil engineering, or related field
- osha 30 certification
- swppp/stormwater compliance training
- pmp certification or equivalent project leadership training
- first aid/cpr and safety training
- experience with municipal or public infrastructure contracts
