gold beach lumber yard is seeking an experienced and motivated store manager to oversee the daily operations of our store in harbor, oregon. the ideal candidate will have a strong background in high volume retail management, including financial reports and inventory control, excellent customer service skills, and a solid understanding of hardware products and tools. this role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, driving sales, and ensuring the overall success and profitability of the store.


key responsibilities:
  • store operations:
    • manage day-to-day store functions, including opening and closing procedures.
    • ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-stocked.
    • implement and monitor store policies and procedures for efficiency and compliance.
  • staff management:
    • hire, train, and supervise store employees.
    • create work schedules and delegate tasks to staff.
    • conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback/coaching.
  • customer service:
    • ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
    • resolve customer issues, complaints, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
    • provide product knowledge and assistance to customers when needed.
  • inventory & merchandising:
    • maintain optimal inventory levels by ordering and receiving stock.
    • conduct regular inventory audits and minimize shrinkage.
    • oversee product merchandising and promotional displays.
  • sales & financial performance:
    • drive sales and meet or exceed store targets.
    • monitor financial performance including sales, expenses, and profit margins.
    • prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
  • health & safety:
    • ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
    • train staff on proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
requirements qualifications:
  • high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of retail or hardware store management experience.
  • strong knowledge of hardware tools, building materials, and home improvement products.
  • excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • proficient in pos systems, inventory management software, and microsoft office.
  • ability to lift and move heavy merchandise as needed.
working conditions:
  • full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • physically active environment requiring standing for long periods and lifting.
