job summary: gold beach lumber yard is seeking an experienced and motivated store manager to oversee the daily operations of our store in harbor, oregon. the ideal candidate will have a strong background in high volume retail management, including financial reports and inventory control, excellent customer service skills, and a solid understanding of hardware products and tools. this role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, driving sales, and ensuring the overall success and profitability of the store.
key responsibilities: - store operations:
- manage day-to-day store functions, including opening and closing procedures.
- ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- implement and monitor store policies and procedures for efficiency and compliance.
- staff management:
- hire, train, and supervise store employees.
- create work schedules and delegate tasks to staff.
- conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback/coaching.
- customer service:
- ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
- resolve customer issues, complaints, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
- provide product knowledge and assistance to customers when needed.
- inventory & merchandising:
- maintain optimal inventory levels by ordering and receiving stock.
- conduct regular inventory audits and minimize shrinkage.
- oversee product merchandising and promotional displays.
- sales & financial performance:
- drive sales and meet or exceed store targets.
- monitor financial performance including sales, expenses, and profit margins.
- prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- health & safety:
- ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- train staff on proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.

- 3+ years of retail or hardware store management experience.
- strong knowledge of hardware tools, building materials, and home improvement products.
- excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- proficient in pos systems, inventory management software, and microsoft office.
- ability to lift and move heavy merchandise as needed.
