Designation - Biomedical Engineer(Ultrasound Acoustics & Transducer R&D)Experience - 0 to 4 years(Post PHD)Location - VadodaraTimings - 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Role OverviewWe are seeking Biomedical Engineer with expertise in ultrasound acoustics and transducer technology to lead the development of a next-generation ultrasound imaging systems. The role is highly technical and spans the full product development cycle - from transducer design and acoustic characterization through FPGA-based system integration, validation, and regulatory-compliant testing. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of hardware, signal processing, and clinical imaging, collaborating closely with academic institutions, hardware engineers, Software & AI Development team, cross-functional R&D teams. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a high-impact project with long-term growth. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, prototype, and evaluate piezoelectric / CMUT-based ultrasound transducers for medical imaging applications.Perform comprehensive acoustic field characterization including beam profile mapping, pressure field measurement, and frequency response analysis using K-Wave and Field II simulation or any suitable simulation platforms.Develop Experimental validation Strategies (Eg hydrophone-based acoustic measurement systems).Collaborate with FPGA and embedded systems engineers to integrate transducers with TX/RX front-end electronics and high-voltage pulsers.Conduct experiments to ensure signal fidelity and acoustic outputs.Carryout Phantom based Testing for imaging validation.Design and execute pulse-echo test protocols to assess transducer sensitivity, bandwidth, and insertion loss.Validate real-time B-mode and CW Doppler imaging pipelines; contribute to image quality benchmarking (TCG and Beamforming Techniques).Development and/or debugging of MATLAB/Python-based signal processing scripts for Image Acquisition post-processing & Analysis.Design acoustic output measurements strategies (MI, TI, ISPTA) in compliance with relevant IEC & FDA/CE standards.Maintain calibrated test setups, data logs, design reviews and verification/validation documentation in accordance with quality systems.Engage with academic research partners and contribute to collaborative research programmes.Support preparation of test reports for regulatory submissions and internal design reviews.Participate in design reviews, progress meetings, and cross-functional working groups. Qualifications & SkillsEducationPhD in Biomedical Engineering. Thesis or significant research project in medical ultrasound, acoustics, or related imaging modality is strongly preferred. Required Technical SkillsKnowledge in Ultrasound wave propagation, piezoelectric materials, acoustic impedance, attenuationPrior Experience in Acoustic Filed Simulation tools like like K-Wave Toolbox (MATLAB/Python), Field II - transducer & beam modellingExperience with basic laboratory tools like Oscilloscopes, signal generators, pulse-echo systems, impedance analysers, signal acquisition.Exposure to Hydrophone setups, calibrated acoustic measurement, near/far field characterizationOperational understanding of B-mode, CW Doppler, M-modeHands-on in Matlab and/or Python programmingKnowledge of Digital signal Processing Techniques (Eg Frequency-domain analysis, FFT, filtering)Familiarity with ISO, FDA, IEC medical Ultrasound Regulatory guidance.Exposure to LabVIEW or similar test automation environments.Good to have experience with high-voltage circuit design or TX front-end electronics.
