Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership in Research Develop and execute a strategic vision for research that aligns with the university s mission and global academic standards. Oversee the establishment and growth of research centers, labs, and interdisciplinary programs across the university. Promote a culture of intellectual curiosity, ethical research practices, and academic rigor among faculty and students. Serve as a key member of the university s leadership team, advising on policies and initiatives that enhance the research ecosystem. Research Excellence Drive high-impact research by identifying priority areas, fostering innovation, and encouraging ground-breaking discoveries. Secure external funding through grants, partnerships, and collaborations with national and international funding agencies. Monitor and evaluate research outputs, ensuring publications in high-impact journals and presentations at prestigious conferences. Establish metrics and benchmarks to assess research quality and productivity across departments and schools. Innovative Teaching Methodologies Integrate research into the academic curriculum by promoting research-based learning and experiential teaching approaches. Encourage faculty to adopt innovative methodologies, such as problem-based learning, data-driven research projects, and technology-enhanced research training. Support the development of graduate and doctoral programs that emphasize cutting-edge research skills and methodologies. Faculty Development Mentor faculty in developing their research portfolios, securing funding, and achieving national and international recognition. Design and implement professional development programs focused on research skills, grant writing, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Facilitate opportunities for faculty to engage in collaborative research projects, both within the university and with external partners. Recognize and reward faculty contributions to research excellence through awards, incentives, and career advancement opportunities. Collaboration with Stakeholders Build strategic partnerships with industry, government agencies, research institutions, and international universities to enhance research opportunities and funding. Collaborate with academic departments to align research initiatives with teaching goals and student development. Engage with alumni, donors, and community stakeholders to secure support for research infrastructure and projects. Represent the university at research forums, conferences, and policy discussions to elevate its reputation as a research-intensive institution. Administrative and Operational Oversight Manage the research budget, allocate resources effectively, and oversee the development of state-of-the-art research facilities. Ensure compliance with ethical standards, intellectual property policies, and regulatory requirements in all research activities. Supervise the Office of Research, including staff responsible for grant management, research compliance, and technology transfer. Promote an inclusive research environment that supports diversity in perspectives, disciplines, and participants. Qualifications Educational Background: A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from a recognized institution in a relevant academic discipline. An outstanding record of scholarly research, including a substantial portfolio of publications in peer-reviewed journals and impactful contributions to the field. Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in academia, with at least 5 years in a research leadership role (e.g., Director of Research, Dean, or equivalent). Proven success in securing and managing significant research funding from diverse sources (government, industry, private foundations). Extensive experience in mentoring faculty and students in research endeavors and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Certifications (Preferred): Additional credentials in research administration, leadership, or innovation (e.g., Certified Research Administrator or similar) will be an advantage.
