We are on the lookout for a meticulous and organized Audio/Video Security Systems Engineer dedicated to the operation, configuration, and maintenance of sophisticated video systems used in secure settings. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

  • Manage the technical development of audio-related electrical and acoustic components, including audio amplifiers, speakers, microphones, pedestrian warning systems (AVAS), and horns.
  • Lead end-to-end project management, from system design specifications and mechanical packaging to unit testing, integration, and validation.
  • Engage in vehicle programs from the conceptual design phase through to production, including series maintenance and model upgrades related to audio design.
  • Coordinate cross-functional system release plans, working with product marketing, management, audio software development, infotainment systems, and other teams.
  • Develop and implement effective program management processes, ensuring the successful collaboration of hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Communicate the status of audio systems and components, including design directions, risks, and mitigation plans, while negotiating trade-offs and scope changes.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, identify potential deviations in product architecture, and make necessary adjustments to address technical changes.
  • Proactively evaluate design decisions, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and scope.
  • Expedite revisions, corrections, and implementation of changes to documentation and deliverables.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships and manage workload prioritization to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership, system engineering, and/or technical program management of audio systems or hardware, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving the development and delivery of audio hardware programs.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies for hardware and software product management.
  • Familiarity with the Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Experience managing audio hardware suppliers, contract manufacturers, and audio hardware/software design consultants.
  • Expertise in developing and managing program management tools and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with documentation and presentation tools (Word, PowerPoint, Confluence, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across functions and work in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while ensuring product roadmap alignment.
  • Ability to inspire confidence in colleagues, engineering teams, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex issues, facilitate decision-making, and coordinate action plans.
  • Strong skills in evaluating and providing constructive feedback on engineering decisions.
  • Willingness to travel both within the U.S. and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive development processes, including design reviews, change management, and supplier evaluations.
  • Knowledge of audio software development, including verification, integration, and validation processes.
  • Experience influencing audio system designs based on past experiences or education.
  • Familiarity with hardware-related software development (e.g., microcontroller abstraction layers, drivers).
  • Experience with Jama for requirements management.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of automotive safety standards.
  • Experience in the design and development of complex electronic control units is highly valued.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering, Audio Design, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors. Job Description We are seeking a Lead Audiovisual Commissioning Engineer who will work closely with the A/V Design Engineer to translate project quotes into functional designs, including video teleconferencing systems, audio DSP systems (BSS, Biamp, QSC), projection and display devices, video wall display systems (Absen, Barco, Planar, Pryzm, VueWall), digital signage systems, control systems (Crestron, AMX), unified communications and collaboration platforms (Polycom RealPresence, Cisco TelePresence, Cisco Unified Communications, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams Video & IM), wireless microphone and camera systems (PTZ wall cameras, wireless microphones), AV-over-IP and broadcast technologies (Dante, Evertz, VBrick, Grass Valley), multiviewers and image processing (Christie Spiders), VoIP, and future technologies. Responsibilities:
  • Work with the A/V Design Engineer to conceptualize A/V system designs from scratch for client companies.
  • Interface & maintain ongoing dialogue for projects with Clients, Sales, and Tech Ops and purchasing team members
  • Provide documentation for quotes & bid packages detailing equipment, cost, labor estimates, pre-installation requirements, and site survey results
  • Develop detailed Bill of Materials (BOM), detailed infrastructure drawings using tools such as Bluebeam, Visio, CAD, etc., for architect, general contractor and electrical contractor. Use and create final engineering drawings for rack layout, system wiring and custom plates or cabling assemblies and equipment purchase schedules
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology that can fit our client's budget without sacrificing quality or reliability
  • Demonstrate Installation Techniques when needed to support the installation team.
  • Commission A/V systems to complete installation.
  • Assist in the preparation of consultant specified bids and submittals
  • Assist and perform client site visits for initial surveys, ongoing technical assessment, and support for tech ops during integration, install, & commissioning
  • Assist the programmer with technical direction, including hands on, when developing user interfaces & control programs and be able to support Crestron, QSC, Biamp or BSS programming.
  • Assist in the creation and manage change orders to assist with maintain or increasing profitability on projects
  • Assist with technical oversight, red lines, and design questions during integration & commissioning of systems
  • Capture field mark ups and assist with generating As-Built drawings sets for the final design package
Requirements
  • CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in the audiovisual industry, specializing in commissioning or system design. A thorough, demonstrable understanding of systems integration techniques
  • Proven experience developing a detailed BOM for fully functioning AV systems designs
  • Skilled in the use of Bluebeam, AutoCad and Visio, and D-Tools
  • Knowledge of networking systems design and operation
  • OSHA 10 (Minimum) and valid Driver's License with clean driving record
