Job Title: Electrical Electronic Engineer (contingent)

Job Description:

Seeking an Electrical Engineer in support of the US Army, Field Maintenance Activity (FMA) team on Redstone Arsenal. Utilizing education and experience to develop tests, produce technical drawings, create test fixtures, and design software. Will have flexibility and responsibility to develop relevant test strategies, lead customer meetings, and work collaboratively with all the functional teams.

Primary duties will include (but not limited to):

• Using sound methodologies, concepts, and practices to troubleshoot complex electronic test equipment to the component level, including the use of automated test equipment,

• Read and interpret complex technical materials such as manuals, drawings, schematics, and block diagrams,

• Operate common electrical equipment and tools such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters,

• Develop Test Program Sets for SRU, LRU, and component level UUTs using automated test equipment,

• Develop and implement test strategies, test plans, test procedures, test standards, and processes required for TPS development and operation.

• Must have a Secret Security Clearance, Demonstrated and documented experience in design or test development, Demonstrated and documented ability to program in Lab View, C++, or other language, Computer skills including the MS Suite of programs.

Desired Skills: Ability to perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, and work effectively with little or no supervision. Must be diverse and able to fill other roles or duties as needed or assigned.

• Adhere to the company's AS9100 and quality policies, procedures and guidelines.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or higher from an ABET Accredited program,

• 3+ years in design, test, and engineering experience,

• 5 years of overall engineering experience.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively working towards licensure.

Secret security clearance is required.

Position Summary Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing electrical design expertise for new product development and support for production launch. Additionally, you will be responsible for electrical design engineering and/or analysis support for certain legacy products currently in production phase. Key Responsibilities
  • Design electronic circuits related to sensor and actuation products for automotive industry.
  • Utilize computer-aided design for circuit simulation, schematic and circuit board creation.
  • Interface with both internal and external customers to support new and legacy products. The electrical engineering team supports all of the automotive product lines at CTS.
  • Meet department goals and timing for assigned projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to design small signal, digital, and power electronics. The candidate should have completed at least three electronic design projects in this area from prior work experience.
  • Ability to use ECAD tools for schematic and circuit board design. Preferred if the candidate has experience with Altium ECAD software.
  • In depth, use of Microsoft Office tools and specifically Excel. Preferred to have knowledge using MathWorks for data analysis too.
  • Knowledge of embedded electronic hardware and software controls in the automotive or related industry is desirable.
  • Familiarity of the automotive design process is required.
  • Familiarity of ISO26262 Functional Safety is desirable.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design.
  • Preferred engineering experience to be within the automotive industry.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer. Sponsorship is an option.

Responsibilities:

This position involves conceiving, design, implementing, and testing RF solutions such as proximity, height-of-burst (HOB), unmanned RF payloads, or seeker sensors spanning both development and manufacturing for missile, rocket, Electronic Warfare (EW), and/or gun-launched munition platforms. The individual in this position supports the product lifecycle across multiple product lines.

  • RF, analog, and mixed signal circuit analysis, design, and testing.

  • Support all phases of detailed system and subsystem development activities, including upfront analysis, prototyping, end item development and evaluation in laboratory and field test environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following areas is required:
    • RF/Microwave circuit design & test
    • Analog/mixed signal design & test
    • Modeling, data collection, and analysis with scripting language tools (i.e., MATLAB, Python, MathCAD, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of RF engineering principles including VSWR, Gain, Linearity, etc.
  • Possess excellent organizational and communications skills.
  • Able to prioritize work and maximize productivity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree & a minimum of 3 to 5 years industry experience
  • Experience with Cadence OrCAD or similar schematic design software and understand board layout/stack-ups for RF designs
  • Experience in implementing microwave structures (couplers, splitters, etc.) in artwork for visualization/block diagrams
  • Experience with AnSoft/Ansys HFSS, AWR Microwave office, or similar simulation tools
  • Experience with radar, SIGINT, and/or electronic warfare product development
  • Experience with antenna measurement instruments and systems including Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Near Field and Far Field chambers, etc.
  • Experience designing to and mitigating EMI/EMC requirements (i.e., MIL-STD-461 & 464)
