Department Training Coordinator- Pharmacy

Job Overview Responsible for working with Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS) leadership within their department in partnership with the Pharmacy System Training Team for department curriculum design, development, implementation, and execution for new and transferring employees to ensure consistency and the highest standards of customer service, process improvement and quality control. This includes training and orientation, workflows, policies, and competencies as well as ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all stakeholders within in their department and consistent with Fairview Pharmacy Services Policies, Procedures and Standards. Required Qualifications
  • Vocational School Vocational/Technical Pharmacy Technician Training Program or Degree or
  • Associates degree in health care or related field or
  • Equivalent experience
  • 2 years pharmacy experience
  • Pharmacy Technician MN
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification - If not Nationally Certified, will be required to obtain Pharmacy Technician National Certification within 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates or
  • B.S./B.A.
  • 1 year experience preferred in their department area

Director, Site Pharmacy

Position Summary:

Responsible for all aspects of the pharmacy fulfillment site operation. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, managing pharmacy staff, and optimizing pharmacy services to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers. The site director collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy department. This position provides guidance for the clinical operational aspects of the Pharmacy program. Responsible for providing oversight of clinical decision-making aspects of the pharmacy program. This role directly supervises the pharmacy team responsible for dispensing medication including pharmacists, technicians, warehouse clerks and other adjacent roles involved in running the fulfillment location.

Please note, while this role is located in our office in Chula Vista, the incumbent of this role MUST hold multi state licenses to be considered.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with federal and state regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead and manage pharmacy staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a competent and motivated team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as medication safety programs, adverse event reporting and medication utilization evaluations.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments and healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of medications, ensuring accurate inventory management and safe medication practices.
  • Fill and distribute prescriptions to patients in a timely manner.
  • Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
  • Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Ensure medication will not interact adversely with another prescribed medication.
  • Submit prescriptions to doctor for automatic refills.
  • Monitor the health and progress of patients to ensure that they are using their medications safely and effectively.
  • Advise patients on over the counter medications
  • Provide information on durable medical equipment.
  • Advise patients with conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure.
  • Maintain and update confidential computerized records of patients' drug therapies to prevent harmful drug interactions.
  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and control records for narcotics or controlled drugs.
  • Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
  • Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies.
  • Teach pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
  • Maintain unrestricted licensure as required in all states where pharmacy dispenses.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintains compliant with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Management/Supervision:

  • Responsible for selection and hiring of qualified staff, ensuring an effective on-boarding, and providing comprehensive training and regular feedback.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes annual goals and objectives for the department based on the organization's strategic goals.
  • Responsible for achieving organizational performance and retention goals, including timely completion of performance evaluations.

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Author routine reports and correspondence.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Willingness to seek and obtain licensure in all states where business is conducted.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) is required
  • Eight (8) years of prior Pharmacy experience is required.
  • Two (2) years leadership experience required.
  • Valid and unrestricted Pharmacist license required in the state(s) of practice.
  • Registered with the applicable Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Mental alertness and ability to analyze large amounts of data and report in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
  • Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.
  • Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
