We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Armys Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Arlington, TX as Bell's Flight Research Center.
Aerospace Rapid Prototyping Experimental Engineer
This is a technical position within Bells Rapid Prototyping (RP) organization. The RP organization serves Bells Program teams by transforming their designs into concept demo air vehicles. Concept demo air vehicles include both clean-sheet and existing air vehicle modifications. RP is expected to establish and foster relationships with program teams (customers) to build trust and meet performance expectations.
In this role, the Experimental Engineer will be deployed to RPs experimental engineering team supporting Bells Flight Research Center (FRC). The candidate will perform experimental airframe design activities related to the preparation, conversion, and release of engineering data.
Also, this position has responsibilities for compliance to the design requirements manual, A/F design manual, best practices, customer specifications, military standards, Bell procedures, and program directives. Furthermore, this position will provide oversight, coordination, and execution of detail part manufacturing and aircraft modifications to include manufacturing installation instruction creation, tooling coordination, and liaison duties.
What youll be doing as a Rapid Prototyping Experimental Engineer
- Design solutions to follow the Design Requirements Manual, A/F Design Manual, Best Practices, and Bell procedures unless directed otherwise by project requirements
- Design air vehicle modifications and associated implementation primarily
- Schedule creation / integration into engineering/program schedule to drive build activity
- Establish aircraft modification sequencing
- Influence BOM structure to maximize EBOM / MBOM agreement
- Create detail, assembly, and installation airframe / mechanical CAD models and drawings
- Create manufacturing engineering plans for details, assemblies, and aircraft installations
- Identify and specify requirements for detail, assembly, and installation tools
- Liaison responsibility for all designs
- Establish MRP demand
- Coordinate with other engineering, manufacturing, or specialty personnel to resolve problems
- Support development of product changes and improvements
- Manage BOM changes from ENOVIA thru CAMS and SAP
- Develop budgetary requirements
Skills You Bring To this Role:
- Proficiency with ENOVIA and CATIA V6 CAD processes
- Proficiency with GD&T and general part sizing
- Ability to communicate effectively to coordinate design activities, prioritize tasks, and report status
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams to complete design and build team tasks
- Covered workforce collaborative experience
- Aircraft modification implementation experience
- Experience with CATIA 3DX
- MRP, planning, manufacturing, and procurement processes familiarity
- Project scheduling experience with MS Project and/or PPM

What you need to be successful:
- Bachelors degree with a Major inMechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
- At least 2+ years of work experience in aerospace with a background in structural design and manufacturing, able to demonstrate design and / or build team experience
