Environmental Engineer I

Location: Latham, NY, US 12110 Job Type: Full Time Job Classification: Salaried Exemption Type: Exempt Education: Bachelor's Degree Travel: Up to 50% Description

This role will work as part of an established industrial/institutional environmental regulatory compliance team and support the strategic direction, client interactions, and technical deliverables associated with projects. Help improve the environment, one site at a time, by scoping, implementing, observing, and reporting on sites that require remediation to bring it into compliance, prepare it for development, or simply improve its subsurface conditions.

Types of Projects:

Our clients include multinational chemical manufacturers, state and local governments, colleges and universities and other institutional organizations. Typical projects include Clean Air Act permitting, air dispersion modeling, hazardous waste auditing/permitting, petroleum and chemical related permitting/inspection/spill plans and SPDES permitting. Remediation related projects may include multi-media site investigation, spill response coordination/documentation, vapor intrusion investigation/design, and small to large scale cleanup projects under various State programs.

Pay Range: $56,000 - $63,000 per year, paid weekly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or chemical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • A minimal amount of travel within New York State and the Northeast will be required in support of project activities.
  • 1 - 2 years relevant post-graduate experience preferred, with related internships a bonus.
  • Experience preparing technical reports is preferred.
  • OSHA 40 Hour training is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction training is preferred.

PPM Consultants, Inc. (PPM), is seeking Environmental Engineers/Compliance Engineers and Scientists to work in our Orlando, Florida (Altamonte Springs) office. The ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a P.E. license in Florida. We are looking for candidates with 10-20 years of experience.

This is a wonderful opportunity for self-starters who enjoy being part of a valuable team that provides multi-media environmental consulting and compliance support to a variety of industrial clients. Candidates will primarily provide environmental compliance, permitting and technical support to clients across several industries (Oil & Gas, Chemical, Manufacturing, Forest Products, etc.). Candidate will also be expected to prepare Remedial Action Plans and market PPM's services to clients. The position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and effective scientific, marketing and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare/evaluate environmental permit applications, emission reports, compliance certifications, etc.

• Provide senior review of technical documents and applications and provide support to other engineering personnel

• Manage projects and project teams

• Evaluate and prepare Remedial Action Plans for petroleum underground storage tank cleanups

• Interact with clients and assist them in maintaining compliance with applicable regulations

• Communicate with regulators on permits and compliance issues

• Participate in site visits, data collection, and investigations regarding environmental topics

• Perform environmental calculations using appropriate methodologies

• Lead/prepare proposals

• Prepare environmental guidance documents and develop regulatory strategies

• Market environmental compliance services

Job Requirements

Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of EPA regulations

• Familiarity with Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana regulations are a plus

• Familiarity and specialty in air compliance is a plus

• Familiarity with the Florida PRP UST program is a plus

• Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 Office Suite

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Ability to manage work product development and meet deadlines

• Excellent written and verbal communications

• Ability to handle information confidentially

Education and Experience Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Engineering or similar study with current professional licensure (Fl.) is preferred.

• 10-20 years of environmental permitting, compliance and/or modeling experience; consulting experience preferred.

• Knowledge of environmental compliance rules, regulations and agency structure in Florida and surrounding states

This role is primarily focused on environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the company in monitoring and managing environmental, health and safety (EH&S), compliance for all Crown domestic manufacturing and branch operations.
  • Develop EH&S programs, audit company facilities, and complete regulatory mandates in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and conduct appropriate training programs for company employees and assist in the development of internal EH&S programs.
  • Conduct EH&S audits of company facilities.
  • Monitor, prepare regulatory reports and coordinate on a regular basis, EH&S programs such as compliance with wastewater pretreatment regulations, stormwater, air emissions and hazardous waste regulations for designated company facilities.
  • Complete environmental permit applications for company facilities.
  • Work with the company employees, supervisors, managers and executives in addressing EH&S related issues.
  • This position requires significant travel (15%) and the successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • This position requires a four-year college degree in EH&S or related field.
  • A working knowledge of EH&S regulations and reporting required.
  • Three to five years' experience in process operations in a manufacturing environment relating to EH&S management, air emissions, wastewater treatment and hazardous chemical regulations (including waste) are necessary for this position.
  • Valid driver's license required.
