Sr. Network Engineer

What's the role?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to become an integral part of our innovative team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the strategic design, development, and maintenance of our core networking infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of foundational network protocols and technologies, complemented by hands-on experience in managing large-scale enterprise networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain core networking infrastructure
  • Implement and manage advanced routing, switching, load balancing, and firewall solutions.
  • Lead and facilitate design sessions, offering expert technical guidance to the team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure seamless operations.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in network engineering within large enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in routing, switching, load balancing, and firewall technologies and wireless
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design sessions effectively.
  • Superior written communication and documentation capabilities.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, and spine and leaf architecture, Wireless technology
  • Experience with Aruba, Arista, and Zscaler technologies
  • Knowledge of Layer 2, EVPN, and VXLan
  • Familiarity in Python and CI/CD pipeline development. -

Pay Range - End:

$172,250.00

Geographic Specific Pay Structure:

205 - Structure 110: 102,060.00 USD - 189,540.00 USD 205 - Structure 115: 106,680.00 USD - 198,120.00 USD

    NOC Network Engineer II

    Communication Technology Services (CTS) is one of the largest integrators and managed service providers for enterprise cellular networks in the U.S., specializing in the design, installation and support of Distributed Antenna System (DAS), Small Cell, and 4G/5G Private Wireless Networks for Enterprise.

    We are searching for a skilled, driven, and innovative Network Engineer II to join our team based in Greenville, South Carolina. In this role, you will collaborate with the Network Operations support team to optimize the performance of high-traffic network infrastructures. You will design and implement enterprise-level WAN and LAN networks, as well as Private Wireless Networks (PWN), while maintaining system integrity and evaluating network performance. As a team player, you'll occasionally step into other roles to meet client expectations. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives on managing large-scale projects and takes full ownership of their work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Network Monitoring & Maintenance

    1. Continuously monitor the performance, availability, and security of traditional networks and DAS networks.

    Incident Management

    l Respond to network alarms, incidents, and outages, working quickly to identify root causes and apply corrective actions.

    l Collaborate with other teams to restore services and implement temporary and permanent solutions.

    Configuration & Troubleshooting

    1. Perform configuration changes and updates for routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware as necessary.
    2. Troubleshoot connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks, and other network faults.

    Network Optimization

    1. Perform routine assessments of network performance, providing recommendations for optimization.
    2. Assist in the planning and implementation of network upgrades, expansions, and capacity improvements.

    Security & Compliance

    1. Implementation of Security Protocols

    Technical Skills

    1. Strong understanding of IP networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and VLANs.
    2. Familiarity with SD-WAN, routing, and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.).

    l Experience with network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs) and troubleshooting network security breaches.

    1. Experience working in a SOC or Regulatory controlled environment

    We are seeking a Technical Liaison Network Engineer to serve as a critical link between our Network Operations team and the internal departments responsible for deploying and managing our SaaS applications. This role will ensure seamless collaboration, operational efficiency, and technical alignment between infrastructure and application-level services.

    • Act as the primary point of contact between the Network Operations team and the Application/Software Operations team.

    • Translate network and infrastructure requirements into actionable steps for the software teams, and vice versa.

    • Monitor and analyze network performance as it relates to SaaS application uptime, latency, and availability.

    • Assist in incident response and post-mortems involving cross-functional systems.

    • Collaborate on deployment strategies to ensure applications are delivered in a compliant, secure, and highly available manner.

    • Support compliance, security, and data governance requirements related to SaaS products.

    • Provide documentation and training to stakeholders on network impacts or dependencies related to application updates.

    • Participate in change management reviews, system integrations, and network planning for application scaling.

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

    • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, network engineering, or SaaS application support.

    • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).

    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS architecture.

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    • Ability to manage technical discussions across different teams.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience working in a SaaS or cloud-first environment.

    The opportunity:

    Reporting to the Director of Networking and Telecommunications, the Network Engineer performs complex engineering, including problem diagnostics and resolution, focused on the installation, configuration, and on-going evolution of campus networking to support Internet access, remote access, wireless networking, Voice over IP, and associated infrastructure. This position is approved for hybrid work, which requires being in the office at least three days per week.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Install, configure, maintain, document, automate, and otherwise support network equipment, including but not limited to: switches, routers, UPS, diagnostic equipment, monitoring/security systems, wireless controllers/access points, VoIP, and other network servers
    • Assure network stability, operability, and proper configuration of assigned technical systems and components
    • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex network configuration, connectivity, security, and access problems
    • Configure and remediate problems with IoT devices including cameras, electronic door access, alarms, and other building automation systems
    • Monitor network status, statistics, and system logs
    • Maintain firewall access rules, VPN (site-to-site and client-based), and end-user network access control systems
    • Protect the network from unauthorized access or malicious intent.
    • Configure, maintain, and support connections to multiple Internet Service Providers, Internet2, cloud services, and consortium colleges
    • Maintain campus copper wiring and fiber optic cabling plant, including terminate/test Ethernet cabling, document, and perform network cross-connects. Provide direction to wiring contractors regarding locations and standards to be followed when installing new cabling.
