The Structural Engineer is responsible for all sizes and types of projects, with the opportunity to work independently on smaller projects and the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers for more complex projects. Qualifications You'll Need:

Senior Structural Engineer

The overall duties of a Senior Structural Engineer Include:

  1. Perform engineering calculations and details for all products and connections.
  2. Independently perform lateral analysis and design; troubleshoot and check laterals.
  3. Lead project teams.
  4. Independently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance or guidance.
  5. Review contract documents to be familiar with project requirements.
  6. Attend project meetings and lead coordination meetings.
  7. Write and review complex requests for information (RFI).
  8. Resolve design issues independently and assist others with solving engineering design related problems.
  9. Serve as point of contact for Metromont engineers and subcontractors for resolution of more complicated technical questions and problems.
  10. Check engineering design calculations and details of others including that of external consultants for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Metromont standards and Engineering Design Process.
  11. Review erection drawings, master shop tickets, and any additional shop tickets to ensure designs and standards are followed.
  12. Aware of production through regular plant visits and participation in plant meetings relevant to assigned projects.
  13. Become licensed in states where engineering work is performed and, when assigned, reviews and stamps erection drawings, calculations, and repair details.
  14. Evaluate design cost as compared to estimate and take appropriate action.
  15. Complete repairs without assistance.
  16. May be an active participant in external industry organizations such as PCI and ACI.
  17. Participate in pre-sale engineering design processes as requested by the sales department.
  18. Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

  • Experience with complex concrete and/or movable bridges is a plus
  • Bridge rating experience and/or inspection experience is a plus
  • Experience with current AASHTO design specifications, design procedures, bridge standards and details, and structural computer models
  • Experience in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; experience with current Bridge Analysis/Design and FEM software (preferred)
  • Experiencing working effectively as part of a design team
  • Experience with local client base preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
