Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Documentation Specialist with 4-7 years of experience to join our growing documentation team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, has a strong grasp of software documentation standards, and is passionate about delivering content that makes complex concepts simple and accessible.
You will work closely with product managers, developers, QA, UI/UX teams, and customer-facing stakeholders to ensure that every product release is supported by world-class documentation.
Key Responsibilities
•Create, update, and manage end-user documentation for Avo's suite of products, including user guides, installation manuals, API references, release notes, and online help
•Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand technical features and translate them into clear, structured, and user-friendly content
•Own and drive the documentation lifecycle from planning to publishing, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with product releases
•Write for multiple audiences including technical users, business analysts, and system admins
•Maintain and improve documentation standards, templates, and style guides
•Work with UI/UX and design teams to align documentation tone and visuals with brand and product design
•Review and edit documentation created by junior writers or product teams for clarity, consistency, and grammar
•Proactively identify content gaps, usability issues, and improvement opportunities across documentation sets
•Support the creation of quick-start guides, onboarding materials, in-product tooltips, and learning content
Qualifications & Skills
•Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field
•6-7 years of professional experience in technical writing or product documentation, preferably in the software or SaaS domain
•Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of documentation deliverables
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a user-first mindset
•Hands-on experience with documentation tools such as GitBookm MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Markdown, or similar authoring tools
•Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, or version control systems like Git is a plus
•Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
•Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
