Adjunct Professor, Integrated Reading and Writing (Applicant Pool )

Job Summary:

Responsible to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to the college's core values, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meet professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Division faculty and administered by the associate dean/director.
  • Teaching assignments may be on one or more of the college's campuses or off-site locations and may include evening and weekend programs. Collin College is not hiring for on-line instruction at this time.
  • May include Dual Credit courses.

Supplemental Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and core values.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in discipline/qualifying field or a Bachelor's degree with at least 18 undergraduate hours in discipline/qualifying field.

Teaching experience is desired. This position is Security Sensitive, therefore, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check.

Writing Department Postdoctoral Fellow

Writing Department Postdoctoral Fellow Full-Time, 10-Month, Exempt, Salaried, Faculty Appointment We seek a two-year postdoctoral candidate to become an integral member of Colby's Writing Department and its Writing-Enriched Curriculum (WEC) initiative for upper-level writing in the majors. The successful candidate will teach in a WAC-based Writing Department and work closely with the department Chair on departmental WEC projects, data analysis, and faculty development. There will also be an opportunity to develop new courses and continue to advance a research agenda in the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates with a Ph.D. or advanced ABD status in Writing Studies or a related field (e.g., English, Composition/Rhetoric) and experience teaching writing and rhetoric are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have teaching experience in college-level writing, composition studies, and/or rhetoric; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines; experience with research methods in composition and rhetoric; knowledge of composition/writing studies scholarship and pedagogies; and the ability to work as a member of a diverse community.

Duties for this role include: Work with the chair and disciplinary faculty to support the development, implementation andassessment of departmental WEC writing plans; Teach three courses annually: two first-year writing courses and either Professional Writing or a newcourse in a relevant area of the candidate's choosing; Support campus writing assessment; Collaborate with the Writing Department chair and other faculty to plan and facilitate faculty writingpedagogy workshops; Work with the Farnham Writers' Center director on ongoing center programs and new initiatives.

As the Senior/Principal Technical Writing Specialist, you will lead the development and maintenance of technical documentation, policies, procedures, white papers and manuals. Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter resource to all levels of the organization.
  • Recommend alternative processes and practices.
