Senior Private Client Tax Advisor - Adivsory and Compliance

Ten2Two Ltd

London, England, United Kingdom

6 November 2026

Our client is an established boutique private client tax practice providing specialist tax compliance and advisory services to individuals, families, trustees and executors.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Private Client Tax Adviser to join their growing team in a fully remote position.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys technical tax work, has genuine advisory experience and is comfortable taking responsibility for their own clients and assignments.

The role offers a varied combination of tax advisory and compliance work, together with the opportunity to work closely with the practice owner and an experienced team.

For the right individual, there is a clear opportunity to progress towards a management position as the practice continues to develop.

Key responsibilities:

Private client tax advisory

· Researching and advising on a range of UK personal tax matters, including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

· Assisting with tax planning assignments involving property transactions, disposals, lifetime gifting and estate planning.

· Considering the tax implications of trusts, estates and other private client arrangements.

· Undertaking technical research, identifying relevant legislation and reliefs, and preparing clear written advice and recommendations.

· Identifying tax planning opportunities arising from client circumstances and compliance work.

· Working alongside experienced colleagues on more complex advisory assignments.

Compliance and client management

· Independently managing a portfolio of personal tax clients.

· Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment Tax Returns and related calculations.

· Assisting with Trust and Estate Tax Returns and Inheritance Tax reporting, including IHT400s.

· Communicating directly with clients, solicitors, accountants and other professional advisers.

· Managing client deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.

· Providing a responsive, professional and approachable service.

Team development and future responsibilities:

As the successful candidate becomes established in the practice, the role is expected to develop to include:

· Reviewing work prepared by other members of the team.

· Providing technical guidance and supporting colleagues.

· Assisting with the allocation and management of workflow.

· Overseeing compliance deadlines and maintaining quality standards.

· Taking greater responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the tax team.

The intention is for these responsibilities to develop progressively over approximately 12–18 months, subject to the individual's experience, performance and the needs of the practice.

Skills and experience:

Essential

· Strong experience in UK private client tax, gained within an accountancy or specialist tax practice.

· Demonstrable experience of undertaking tax advisory work, rather than exclusively tax compliance.

· Good technical knowledge of personal taxation, particularly Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax.

· Practical exposure to Inheritance Tax and personal tax planning matters.

· Experience researching technical issues and preparing written tax advice.

· Ability to independently manage client relationships and compliance assignments.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

· A proactive, collaborative approach and an interest in developing professionally.

Desirable

· ATT qualified, or equivalent practical experience.

· CTA or STEP qualified, or working towards a relevant qualification.

· Experience of trust and estate taxation.

· Experience with IHT400s and estate-related tax matters.

· Previous experience reviewing work or mentoring colleagues.

· Experience working with solicitors, IFAs and other professional introducers.

The ideal candidate

We are particularly interested in someone who combines sound technical knowledge with curiosity, initiative and a genuine interest in private client advisory work.

They should be comfortable taking a client enquiry, identifying the relevant tax issues, undertaking research and preparing a considered recommendation for review where appropriate.

The successful candidate does not need to be an expert in every specialist area of private client taxation. Support and technical guidance will be available from the practice owner and experienced colleagues.

Of equal importance is the ability to communicate effectively with clients, take ownership of assignments and work collaboratively within a small team.

We are looking for someone who sees this as an opportunity to develop their career and, over time, become an increasingly important part of the practice's management.

What we offer

· Fully remote working from anywhere in the UK.

· A varied combination of private client tax advisory and compliance work.

· Direct involvement in interesting and sometimes complex tax planning assignments.

· Close working relationships with experienced tax professionals.

· A friendly and supportive working environment within an independent specialist practice.

· The opportunity to develop technical, client management and leadership skills.

· A genuine pathway towards a Tax Manager position as the practice grows.
