DV Cleared Machine Learning Engineer - Computer Vision & Deep Learning
Location: Cambridgeshire, fully onsite at a customer office
Engagement: Permanent or contract
Security clearance: Active UK DV clearance is essential
MFK Recruitment is recruiting Machine Learning Engineers for an innovative UK technology company developing advanced artificial intelligence systems for defence, security and demanding operational environments.
This position is focused on the development and deployment of production-grade computer vision models. We are interested in engineers at different levels of seniority who combine strong machine learning knowledge with practical software-engineering ability.
The position will be based fully onsite at a customer office in Cambridgeshire.
MFK Recruitment has supported this organisation for several years. We have placed four engineers with the company, and each remains with the business.
Responsibilities
- Develop, train and evaluate computer vision models using Python and PyTorch.
- Build CNN-based models for object detection, segmentation, classification and tracking.
- Develop and adapt Vision Transformer and transformer-based perception models.
- Prepare datasets, design training strategies and evaluate model performance.
- Optimise models for real-time inference and deployment.
- Integrate trained models into production-quality software systems.
- Investigate model failures and improve performance against real-world data.
- Work closely with software, systems and customer engineering teams.
- Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to engineering reviews.
Essential experience
- Active UK DV clearance.
- Commercial experience developing computer vision or perception systems.
- Strong Python and PyTorch experience.
- Hands-on experience training CNN-based models.
- Experience with architectures such as YOLO, Faster R-CNN, ResNet, U-Net or similar.
- Experience with Vision Transformers, DETR, ViT, Swin Transformer or related architectures.
- Strong understanding of model training, validation and evaluation.
- Experience deploying machine learning models into operational or production environments.
- Ability to write maintainable, production-quality software.
Desirable experience
- CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO or DeepStream.
- NVIDIA GPU or edge-device deployment.
- C or C++ development.
- Sensor fusion, radar, autonomous systems or UAV applications.
- Synthetic-data generation or simulation.
- Real-time video analytics.
- Defence, aerospace or other safety-critical engineering environments.
Candidates must already hold active UK DV clearance and be comfortable working fully onsite at the customer's Cambridgeshire office.
