If you are a chartered structural engineer in the North West and want a senior role with a proper work-life balance and one of the better benefits packages around, this is worth a conversation.
My client is a structural and civil engineering consultancy based in Derry/Londonderry, delivering projects from concept through to construction. Their work covers building structures in steel, concrete, timber and masonry, foundation design, civil works such as roads, retaining walls and drainage, and structural surveys of existing buildings. They are hiring a Senior Structural Engineer to run his own projects, guide the junior team members on them, and help grow the consultancy's client base.
You'll take charge of your own projects from start to finish. That means the design, the calculations and the drawings, checking work done by others, and keeping the job on time and on budget. You'll be the person clients, contractors and other consultants deal with day to day, and you'll get out to site for inspections when needed.
You'll report to the Principal Engineer and work with them to plan resources across the team. You'll also mentor the graduates, technicians and junior engineers working on your jobs.
On the commercial side, you'll keep track of project costs, fees and invoicing, put together monthly workload and fee forecasts, and spot risks early so they get dealt with. You'll also play a part in winning new work and building the client base.
