Location: Lansing, Michigan

Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days a week in office)

Duration: 1 year with possible extension

Requirements: Strong communication skills, adaptability to processes, and ownership/accountability of projects

Job Function: This position provides oversight, leadership, accountability and project management functions for one or more large size, complex projects.

Duties:

  • Establish and monitor project controlling methods
  • Provide planning, staffing needs and reporting
  • Direct and coordinate the day to day activities, tasks and deliverables
  • Perform miscellaneous functions as needed to contribute to the overall operation and objectives of the Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB)
  • Independent Responsibilities: Decisions in support of the DTMB standards, including the SOM Methodology (SUITE)
  • Review Required: Matters that affect the budget beyond the projects allocated amounts, deviation from SOM Methodology (SUITE), decisions resulting in a business process change, decisions impacting other systems and business units, decisions impacting the Agencys IT strategic direction
  • Physical Environment: Standard office environment, performing duties within the assigned workspace, tasks can be completed routinely seated at a desk
  • Experience: Five years of professional experience as a project manager for IT software or infrastructure projects involving 20 or more team members
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a PMP Certification is highly desired. Duties may involve the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of Project Management principles, concepts and practices, system development methods, ability to work in a team environment, ability to resolve conflicting high-priority requirements, ability to communicate the needs of others effectively, ability to conduct training and informational sessions, ability to maintain favorable public relations and perform problem/issue resolution.
