The Project Engineer will coordinate engineering activities across substation projects and serve as a key technical connection between engineering teams, project management, procurement, suppliers, customers, and the field.
This is not a hands-on CAD/design production position. The Project Engineer needs enough substation design experience to understand drawings, ask the right technical questions, and coordinate effectively with engineering teams, but the day-to-day focus is project execution, communication, schedule coordination, and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
Coordinate engineering activities and deliverables across multiple disciplines.
Track engineering schedules, open items, and technical dependencies to keep projects moving.
Lead and participate in technical meetings with engineers, customers, suppliers, and project teams.
Review and understand substation drawings and engineering documentation to support technical coordination.
Partner with procurement and suppliers on equipment specifications, technical evaluations, and design reviews.
Coordinate technical questions and issues between engineering and construction/commissioning teams.
Help manage engineering changes and communicate potential impacts to project scope, schedule, and delivery.
Proactively identify issues, engage the appropriate technical resources, and drive follow-through.
Must Haves
5–10 years of relevant engineering experience, with the strongest target around 7–10 years.
Substation design background and understanding of substation engineering.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Experience coordinating technical deliverables, engineering activities, or multidisciplinary project work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable leading conversations and coordinating engineers without needing direct authority.
Proactive mindset with the ability to recognize what needs attention and take ownership.
Strong organization and time-management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
Additional Skills:
EPC project experience.
Experience with AIS and/or GIS substations/equipment.
Experience working with procurement, suppliers, construction, or commissioning teams.
Previous project engineering or technical project coordination experience.
